It's going to be a little more difficult to ferret out which members of Congress are lavished with all-expenses-paid trips around the world after the House has quietly stripped away the requirement that such privately sponsored travel be included on lawmakers' annual financial-disclosure forms.

The move, made behind closed doors and without a public announcement by the House Ethics Committee, reverses more than three decades of precedent. Gifts of free travel to lawmakers have appeared on the yearly financial form dating back its creation in the late 1970s, after the Watergate scandal. National Journal uncovered the deleted disclosure requirement when analyzing the most recent batch of yearly filings.
How nice of them, that the House Ethics Committee can set aside their partisan differences to change a rule and now make it easier to hide the free trips they get from private donors.

Don't worry, I'm sure the media will make a big deal about this and let the American people know.

Basically means the House repubs noticed Chief WallStreet servant Eric Cantor get his ass reamed out over living and traveling like a pasha on the tax payer's dime.

So, the question was do they just stop abusing the finances of their office, or just make said abuses harder to discover? Easy answer for banana republicans, obviously.

Ah yes, one of the few things our congress can agree on and work together to get done: making sure their corruption becomes harder to expose ;)

There is no difference between the two parties. Hasnt been any in a long time. The media is part of the same system. The oligarchy.

Scumbags.

The 9/11 terrorists knew what they were doing when they went after the Twin Towers. Flying a plane into the capitol would have gotten them a fruit basket and greeting card.

For some, anything to take a shot at the other team.

Not that Republicans don't deserve it, they are scumbags. I just don't see the difference between D and R. I personally hate them both.

Agreed I am 64 years old and as I look back I really wonder if any politician really cared about the people. The only two I can think of is Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower. And to not start a war I am not sure of them.

One has to be a little "off" to seek political office in the first place.
Like that weird loud mouth kid back in kindergarten.
Or that character Reese Witherspoon played in her movie ELECTION.
Running for office under the guise of WANTING YO DO GOOD FOR THE PEOPLE is total BS.
We know it, they know it.
So basically we elect brain damaged candidates or that weird kid from kindergarten.
Same theory applies to all tv televangelist.
A major screw loose in the old noggin.
If they were not politicians they'd be rapist, drug addicts, child molesters, wife beaters, embezzlers, or mad scientists. Which politicians end up exposed as in the end.

Is there anyway to find out on who voted on this? Are all the Ethics committes votes secret? Maybe we need a committie to look over the ethics comittie.

tell me again why current day politicians shouldn't be lined up and executed for treason? Anyone affiliated with (D) or (R) should be labeled as a terrorist group and should be thrown in Gitmo.

I'd like to know how the votes were cast. Trey Gowdy just doesn't strike me as someone who would go along with this.

Why is anyone complaining about this? You wanted the government to be more like a business - here you go; those with power & money get the quickest and best attention.

Maybe if you worked hard you would become a member of congress and get shit done for yourself.

Theres a member of congress then there is a member of CONGRESS. Even there they have a inside click you have to be part of to get what you want. Thats why even straight as an arrow get ruined or quit. System is FUBAR.
