Do not go see "The Witch" with your Wife.

It will make her cry in like 10 min.. and she will blame you for being so upset.

I want to see this myself.

But my wife isn't into these type of things in general, and would probably be miffed in general if I talked her into seeing it.

I had a hard enough time talking her into seeing Jurassic Park the day it came out, even though it became one of her favorite movies.

Not quite the same thing I imagine.

I see nothing to cry about. Looks quite innocent and wholesome really.

I was thinking of getting some friends together to see this. What's so awful about it. PM me if you don't want to post spoilers.

In 1630 New England, panic and despair envelops a farmer (Ralph Ineson), his wife (Kate Dickie) and four of their children when youngest son Samuel suddenly vanishes. The family blames Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy), the oldest daughter who was watching the boy at the time of his disappearance. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, twin siblings Mercy (Ellie Grainger) and Jonas (Lucas Dawson) suspect Thomasin of witchcraft, testing the clan's faith, loyalty and love to one another.

Thanks for the synopsis but it sounds like a typical horror movie. If it's just the creepy factor, Crimson Peak was pretty creepy but I can't see anyone getting upset over it.

I'm fairly sure if I told you specifically I'd get an infraction.... so i'll say it more generally:

Gruesome death and use of an infant

Thank you OP. Will take her to see Deadpool tomorrow instead.

Better hope she doesn't get in her head to "celebrate"
International Woman's Day
in that special way the Vanessa and Wade aka Deadpool do.

If your wife was crying in 10 minutes, she must be menstruating. My girl and I saw this on Saturday evening, and we both thought it was rather lame for a horror, more of a drama really. I think if you're a teenager you would get probably get freaked out a few times, just because teens are skittish in general. But if you're an adult, The Witch is not going to have much impact on you at all, and you'll likely be staring at your watch 30 minutes into the movie like we were.

Right, it is also not a good movie for people who don't appreciate good cinema.

My understanding is it's an art house film. If you're expecting a proper scary horror movie that happens to be relatively well reviewed (think Sinister), you're going to be very disappointed with this movie. That said, I enjoyed it after ditching my expectations about 10-15mins in. The acting and dialogue are well done. The setting and atmosphere are appropriate, if excessively grey and dim to dark. The story is enjoyable, but pacing can be slow. I think it's a movie people might appreciate better on a second viewing.

For those unsure if it's worth the $16 Regal seems to think a ticket should go for be aware that the movie is already on the net in high quality. Probably a critic screener from the looks of it.

Ugh just don't do that. Let the actors, writers, director and anyone else involved in the movie get paid. $16 for a movie isn't unreasonable and if you can't afford that or its sacred money just wait for it to be in Red Box or something similar.

sorry pet peeve of mine.
