Do Not Call Registry, do you think it really works?

I never used to get calls, but lately, I have been getting a whole lot, sometimes 3 or 4 a night. I never put my number on the registry, because I never had a problem. Plus I figured shady marketers would phish from it and I don't have confidence in the government to prosecute victimless crimes.

So, do you think it really works?

Thanks.

It worked for me. Any others that happen to call are screened out by my answering machine.

It worked for me. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best things government has done in a long time! LOL

I signed up for the PA do not call list when it was in beta, first day.
I haven't gotten a telemarketer call in eons.
I also taught everyone to say "Will you please put me on your do not call list" when they call.
Problem solved.

It works for people trying to sell you stuff. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have done a thing for those damned charity folks. No I don't want to help cure cancer!

I just got off the phone with a telemarketer offering me a Discover card with 0% intro on balance transfers.
I asked him if he could offer me a Visa with the same rate.
He said no, he's working for Discover.
I said "Too bad, if it was a Visa I'd have taken it"

He rattled off his "if you have any questions call ..... " and got off the phone hastily.
:D

Yes, it works. A few years ago, I got a ton of calls. Now I can't remember the last time I got a telemarketer call.

the only that will call you is the people you have business with.

Charities will too... Including a few phony charities that only exist to make the telemarketers money. Seriously... Some of those charities give up to 80% commissions to the telemarketer who makes a "sale". Pathetic :disgust:

"I am on a do not call list, your company can be fined thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars by contacting me. What is your company name and address so that I can forward it to the proper officials?"

Have not signed up for DNC list here. Our solution was to eimnate our landline (aka telemarketing line). Success has been about 100%...
