Hi

I'm sure many of you have these CDR's at home, and they might work fine for you.
But I tell you I am royally pissed.

I have used these CDR's over a period of 3 years, only in 10-packs thank god!

Every copied CD i have on a Memorex CDR does not work anymore! They work for the first 30 days, but then they deteriorate for me!
I get errors like ("cyclid redundancy check error") and "corrupted disk" errors.

It could be because my CD drive doesn't like them, but it is a Pioneer 6X DVD and thats a very high quality company, I have good faith in them.

Now why am I so pissed at Memorex CD's?

I have lost $150 software on them.
By coicendence, I have lost my original versions of Microsoft Visual Basic 6, Age of Empires 2, and Project IGI.
They have all been backed up on Memorex CD's (using cloncecd and nero I believe) and now they do not work for me because of those errors, and its all on memorex cd's.

All my other discs from 2-3 years ago still work (Office Depot brand and CompUSA).
Is there a way I can get my money back for my lost software? Because this is BS. I'm very pissed.

So I wouldn't recommend buying Memorex anything!

Thanks!

That sucks. If I I were ye, I would not write off those discs but try other drives. You may also try some proggies like BadCopy to attempt recovery. Also, while your loathing of the Memorex brand is not entirely misplaced, I would find out who the manufacturer was and other material specifications of the discs so they could be avoided in the future. Plus, do not discount the hardware and software you used as possible contributors to the problem.

The cheap Memorex suck. A friend gave me a box once, and 2 out of ten were missing dye and I couldn't even burn on them. A few also went bad within a few weeks.

The Memorex Black CDR (like Playstation CDs) are excellent though, they play everywhere and they don't scratch easily.

Could you explain what happened to the original CDs? What caused you to lose them, your backups, AND your copy on your harddrive? Many companies will send you another CD if you send them the damaged originals. Thus you might be able to get your $150 worth of software back.

I never complain any product nor company before, but "MEMOREX" is the only company I will stay away for rest of my life.

NOT because of their product, but their customer service!

I, once bought a Memorex CDRW drive, and it broke w/in 3 months.
Try to get RMA from Memorex, and got denied!!!!!! Why? because I don't have my receipt!!!!!
(EVEN I explain to him that the orginal manufacture date is less than 1 year old, and there are huge "MEMOREX" print on the face of drive!!!)

I try and avoid Memorex, stems from their horrid videotapes, but I'll only buy Memorex anything if I'm really desperate.
All my CDRs are Kodak Ultima.

I have a 48x memorix cd rom drive. It's about 2-3 years old. And after about a week it started to make a really high pitch sound when it was in use. It was so loud I could hear it out side. It was misaligned or something. I tried to send it in but sence I got it free on a deal from circut city they would not take it. Needless to say I replaced it with a 12x dvd as soon as I could.
