I just had to get the word out to all my computer people in the world....

=============================================
So we go to buy my sons birthday gift online. We made sure the primary shipping info had been changed to match our new home in Oregon before purchasing and ordered the gift.

We order it... then about 30 minutes later, log in and verify shipment... well sure enough its shipped to Texas... No worries we say... call the CS Agents, and get it fixed..

*phone call*.

CS Agent - Nothing we can do, sorry... anything else?

Well, at this point.. my wife went apes. They were going to charge us for the game, even though it would never be seen by my son, for his birthday, and we would never see it...

so we ask to talk to a manager...

CS Manager - We can't make the changes, and we won't be refunding you... is there anything else I can help you with.

Well, at this point my wife is crying and I take the phone from her, and (starting) very politely go over the situation with him again. Explaining to him that it was a birthday gift... and there was no way that in this day and age, they don't have any sort of add/remove/change functionality for these types of issues...

CS Manager - We don't have that functionality..

Me - well, then one of two things are going to happen. You'll refund us the money, and we will take our business somewhere else, or you'll find a way to make the changes so that my son gets his gift..

CS Manager - I am sorry, I can't do either...

I took his name down, and proceeded to chew his ass... he hung up somewhere in there, I don't remember where though.

To think that a corporation as big as Best Buy, doesn't have the functionality to make those kinds of changes on the fly..

ANYONE can do this...

This won't end here. I will be getting the money back, and personally will never shop there again. I would urge you to do the same..
OOOOOOOOH do people like you annoy me to no end. Blaming the little guy. Sorry, but guess what - MANAGERS are not the be all, end all to all problems and situations. They are not gods, and guess what, can't do whatever the fvck they like. They are at the mercy of the system just like everyone else. So yes, even though the SYSTEM won't allow him to change the address, let's be cool and take down HIS name and "chew his ass"...yes...because it's HIS fault. :disgust:

What are you, stupid?
You don't think a manager should be able to change a shipping address on an order that has not even shipped yet? As for the system being at fault, it's obvious that the manager is lying because no one would create a system that would not give managers at the very least the power to change something so fundamental as a shipping address. And if the system is like that, bestbuy.com should be shut down this very day and the system should be modified to allow it.

Report them to the BBB and call your credit card company right away and request a chargeback.

Like I said, if they can't do it, they can't do it. Not their fault.

Now, if they COULD do it, but refused, then that's different. But that's not what I said now is it.

I hate them too.

My boss bought me a PSP from there with the reasoning that if I don't want it (which I don't) I could easily return it and get cash or something else.
He orders it online .... I get it, go into the store to return it and get cash.

They then take it back and credit HIS credit card without ever telling me what they were doing.
I then explained the situation that he bought it but I wanted to return it against cash .... well, they said "Sorry, but your problem."
They explained that this was bestbuy.com and they couldn't do anything.
I explained that it said nowhere on the shipping slip that they could not pay out cash.

And then they would not even return the item, saying that they could not cancel the return.
I am so pissed at them!!!
I will probably buy a sh!t from them and return it all.

The fvcking thing was even unopened!!!
You sir are a fvcking idiot. NO RETAILER will ever refund an item paid with a CC to cash. NO RETAIL ANYWHERE. YOU ARE A DUMBASS

And to the OP: that is ridiculous, but you didn't do everything you could. Overall BBY isn't that horrible, but you can easily have a horrible experience with the wrong people there. Gain some perspective and stop crying out that the world is coming crashing down.
You're the idiot, buddy. Retailers refund in cash things that were paid with a CC all the time.

no they don't. not any of the major ones, at least.
No, they do, simple as that. I cashiered at Sears for almost a year, the default was to refund in the original form of payment but there was no problem refunding in cash if the customer desired. Lowe's has done it to me a COUPLE of times, even despite my request to refund to my CC (cashiers that wouldn't listen).

okay. my bad. IN MY EXPERIENCE, not any of the major ones, at least. YMMV, apparently.

I think alot of it has to do w/ the amout of the refund. I've returned items that were less <$50 and got cash. If the item was >$50 they would refund it to my card.

BestBuy's online center is completely worthless. THey literally cannot do anything, don't care about anything, won't help you with anything, etc. I'd just call up the CC company and dispute it even before it hits. THen I'd contact the BBB and file a copmlaint.

I've made some money from BB because they are so retarded and they sent me stuff back when they owed me a refund before.

I only buy online and set for in-store pickup. But even then, you can't return it for like 24 hours or something I think.

Best Buy is evil. I signed up for their Reward Zone BS when I bought my big screen, spent $2200 so I should have had over $100 in reward zone points to spend on stuff.... Well after a couple months of not receiving any points I called them up and they told me some BS like I have to wait until I finish paying the TV off... So after I paid the TV off I waited a little while and nothing... So I called them up and they said that the reason I am not getting any points is because I returned the TV the day after I bought it... I chewed them out because I there is no way that happened.... a 180lb TV went downstairs into my room and has been working perfectly since day 1. I had registered the TV with Panasonic and have the serial number and original receipts to prove that it is the same TV I bought the first day... If I had returned the TV I would not have walked out of the store the next day with the same TV! Can you say Better Business Bureau?

So what happened then?

Overstock.com has the same sort of "I can't do sh*t policy"

I ordered a DVD that was supposedly "Not available until a month later", in essence, I back-ordered a DVD.

I find something that was a complete collection and I decide to cancel the first order to get this other "Complete Collection" DVD set.

I call in 4 minutes after placing the order, and they basically gave me the run around saying that they can't do sh*t.

Complete b.s.

Dear idiot,

1) re-order game and correct YOUR ERROR in regards to ship to.
2) get second copy and return to Best Buy
3) quit blaming others for your own errors. You are ruining this country. What's your next step going to be, get a lawyer and sue?

Dear Flaming Troll,

1) Read the original post, where he specifically said the correct info was in the Ship To field.
2) Die in a marshmallow
3) Do not pass go

That is his version of the story. Somewhere in the checking out process, HE messed up with the address. Best Buy usually don't go into their system and modify customer's information. Only you can do that. BTW, the steys they got in place is pretty much for security reasons as someone mention.
