I believe I'm OK but I do have some concerns and I'd like feedback.
I put together my Asus A8N5X on Monday. I was on the A8V deluxe (VIA chipset) and my idle was say... 30C with my Thermaltake Big Typhoon on my 3800x2.
So I install all the same pieces on the A8N5X except I swap my AGP 6800 GT OC for a pci-e 7600GT. I use AS5 on the Big Typhoon just like the first time. I left it on all last night and this morning ASUS probe says my MB and cpu idle temp is 34C.
On average my room temp is consistent so I'm thinking the NF4 board runs hotter than the VIA I was on ??? Anyone care to comment?
FWIW my fan layout is the same as it was when on the VIA and if anything I improved the cable management when I swapped out boards. My case is huge. It's the Thermaltake Armor. What was nice was not having to take out any drives or cables! I first installed the BT and slipped it easily into the case.
Got the one 120mm blowing in at the bottom. One 120mm on the CPU heatsink. One 120mm and 90(?)mm blowing out the back and one 90mm blowing out the top.
And when I installed I clipped off the northbridge and put on an old Thermaltake Extreme Spirit heatsink /fan right away. Read too much about the crappy NB cooling (and I will eventually OC.) Fits great but very tight to the 3pin fan plug. If running SLI this would not work. Here's a link to see the fan. And yes i leave it in the low (it's quiet) position otherwise it's freakin loud and I think my case will take flight.
