I have an old nforce 2 system with an antec 550 true power. I know the new amd systems require a new psu (spec 2 and new plugs) but can I use that psu in a new p965 system or does it need to be modernized? (it is 4 years old so I'm pretty sure it is spec 1).
The Truepower I only has a 20pin ATX connector. You should just be able to tack on an adaptor to make it 24pin and be fine, seeing as it has plenty of power. What videocard will you be using?
A voodoo3 2000 (pci) card if it will work. Someone said they changed the pci spec and the new p965 systems used a new spec (2.3?). Hum... oh well it has a nice 2d dac and works fine with Xwindows.
I'll probably eventually get the Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W - just not sure if it is needed given the psu i already have. On the one hand i can afford it - on the other I hate to be utterly wasteful if it is not needed.
Hum - maybe i would be better off with the 5140GH (400w version). Hard for me to tell - the system should use 130w and the 5 drives hd 1 (mostly unused) optical another 80w ? and the video card 20w- so hum 400 W is enough? bleh.
Ok i guess there are two questions here: do i need a new psu and if so the 500w unit or 400w unit?
If I used the psu calculator correctly it sez i need 370W so i should go with 500w unit in case i have to replace the video sometime in the future (or add another pair of hd) right?
