Do new Dell Laptops still come with restore cds?

I read somewhere that they just come with a restore image. This would suck since you paid for your copy of the OS when you bought the laptop

IIRC, you can opt to get the Windows XP disc (to do a clean install) for free when you order the machine. They may additionally come with a restore partition.

i didnt see that option when i ordered it and it shipped out today Its coming with Windows Media Center edition 2005

If you don't get one, use the online chat feature support feature and have them send you an XP disc. They'll most likely send it to you for free since it will be within the 21-day return period.

Really insist on a Restore CD or DVD. The Restore partition the HDD is useless and lost when the HDD fails.

You can make one single restore set from the restore partition... just got to do it before there's any problems.
