Do most people resize their metal watch band themselves?

No, take it to a watch place. A lot of malls have them as kiosks I've noticed, they will do it for a few bucks.
 
No, I took mine to a watch shop and even he had trouble removing the links. I had to leave it over night and he finally got it, but scratched it up pretty bad. Only cost $5 though and the scratch is on the under-side so I don't' really care. But i'm sure I couldn't have done it.
 
thats recockulous, why not just get a pin and do it yourself! This works for the watch band I currently have 🙂
