Do most European countries now use the Euro completely?

I backpacked through Europe two summers ago and am about to embark on another journey there in a couple days. I was using a currency conversion chart (through Yahoo) and some of the currencies that I used last time I was there are not listed anymore. Last time I went, I was told I would get a better value if I used the local currency rather than Euros, but this time around I'm thinking of using entirely Euros, providing I can use them everywhere.

The countries in particular are Germany, Italy, and Greece. Do all of these countries use the Euro completely now or do they still use their original currencies as well? If they do still use their local currency, I wonder why Yahoo has taken them off their list.

Thanks..

Well...I guess I wasn't entirely clear. I know they all use the Euro, but am I gonna be better off using the local currency or is there that big of a difference between the two currencies?

Oh yeah, anyone know if the Czech Republic uses the Euro?

Most every western european country except for England and Switzerland uses the euro. The Euro is the official currency for these countries, which means that there is no "local currency." i don't believe the Czech Republic uses the euro, at least not yet anyway

Nope, Czech still uses kroners. I have about 50 left if you want it;)

I think some stores will still take them, I was in Germany in Mar and the restruants had prices both in Deutsch marks and Euros. Probably be better off going all Euro though, except obviously in the countries that don't use it.

Going to Prague?

I believe what you are asking is can you still use the old currencys and the answer is no. The euro is now the only accepted currency in countries that use it.

Kami, yes I'm flying into Prague this Tuesday. I'm surprised that the other countries don't still use their old currencies. I would think that some smaller shops and things would still accept them, but it will be nice this time around to only use the Euro in most places. Only other place I'll have to worry about is Switzerland (heading to Interlaken...ah...so beautiful...I can't wait).
