I feel really stupid saying this as it defies all my previous knowlege but...

I have a Sony receiver with one of those 2-way 'work everything' remotes, u know the ones with the flip down front and screen. Anyway the batteries started to run out so I slapped in some brand new AA Duracells, and... it locks up! The screen just lights up when u press the button (usually there is a delay) and nothing appears on the screen, it still sorta functions but the screen stays lit instead of turning off. It was doing this several times a day.

Get this, take the Sony batteries out of the Sony tv remote, put them in the receivers remote....voila been working fine ever since. Batteries are batteries aren't they??

any explanations or is this one for mulder and scully?

That's weird. I'm quite sure that my commander remote I got back in may is running on duracells...
