???

My friend wants to get some 32X Lite-on burner but doesn't know if it supports CD Text.... Does anyone know? He tried their website but didn't find any info.

I guess CD Text is where you can display the song name and info on a LCD when you play the Music CD.

My lite-on 16 supports it, but I never use it.
I don't know exactly what it does, but Nero wouldnt let me use the CD text feature before I had it and now it does.

yup, my liteon 16x10x40 does. and i use it all the time because my Clarion CD Player suports it, also.

i gotta chime in about the quirkiness of it, though. i exclusively use NERO and sometimes it doesnt burn text. the first 5 or so burns I did with it, the cdtext data wasnt written. then the last 40 worked perfect.

then i installed the CDRW in a new computer, and its first couple of burns werent written in text either, and then afterwards (until now), it works great.

im not 100% certain, but i think that with nero, itll only burn the cdtext info if you also enter something in the COPYRIGHT and PRODUCER field. ive havent gotten spare discs or time to test this out.

I think it only lets you burn the artist and title for each track and also the cd title.

Don't use Nero for audio! There is a known bug. If your burner works with EAC, use that for all your audio. If it doesn't use CDRWIN. Both do audi burns with cdtext. Nero is great for some things, audio is not one of them.

I am using a Lite-On 121040 and mine does support CD-Text. I have been using it for quite some time now. It works in my Sony car head unit. I use Nero Burn with this, so far I am not having any major problem with this. But I am having a problem with converting MP3s to audio while attaching a CD-text to it. While it uses Tag3 as the artist and title (CD-Text) it doesn't display on my car player.
