I was watching a show on lions and during a hunt one got gored. The narrator didn't mention anything about this, but I was wondering if the lions would eat the dead lion. Anyone know?

Yes. Lions will scavenge, and there are not many meat eating animals whou would NOT eat thier own dead.

if the lions didn't get to it first, the hyenas would get it.

Hmm. this page disagrees and says that higher mammals generally don't.

At any rate, I know I've seen it on some nature show or other.

The article isn't very clear on that point, but seems to suggest that while lions aren't "active" cannibals, they are opportunistic ones.

Actually it could be 'active' under some circumstances; most male cats will kill any kittens/cubs they come across that aren't theirs. From an evolutionary standpoint, it gives their genetics a better chance of propagating. Even wild 'housecats' will do this, I saw it on a discovery channel documentary a few years ago and remember thinking it's no wonder I don't like cats :p I'd assume they would then eat it.

Ditto, and yes they do eat it. All of them.
