Question Do LCD panels go "bad" after a while

By bad I mean the colors get washed out and contrast is way off

I have a ASUS VG248QE for 6.5 years and lately no matter how much I try to adjust the settings things just aren't right. Reds are super washed out and when I try to "correct" that as best as possible everything else seems dull, too dark, or too bright. Is the monitor just showing its age or am I becoming more sensitive to crap color schemes.

If it matters I'm runing a GTX 970 and am on a recent driver release , but this has been an issue for quite a while now.

I had a dell 24" I had to throw out after about 6 years because it developed some weird blurring issue in one corner and by that time it was out of warranty.

NVidia cards make my 40" UHD TV look like (washed-out garbage) too. Currently running AMD RX 570 cards, mostly for that reason.

I have had ASUS MG279Q for 4 years now and its been flawless all this time. It is on almost every day for about 10-12 hours.

I've been using Samsung Sync Master B2330 23" TN Panel for 9 years straight and it's been reliable with no issues whatsoever.

I should knock on wood though lol.

Dell 2407WFP produced in Sep 2007, so around 11 years old. I'm the original owner and it has served me with no problems.

The only LCD screen I have that developed issues in time is the display on my Asus N550 laptop - after a few years it began to exhibit noticeable memory effect.

It's odd actually, until the last few months I would have said that the most common way for LCDs to go wrong is that the screen starts flicking off and sometimes back on again intermittently until it happens 'too often' (ie. the user gets annoyed by it or it goes off completely). Lately though I've seen several monitors looking rather pink for example, or some other weird tint (factory reset didn't help).
