Do laptops support line-in audio? Workarounds?

I'm shopping for a laptop and one thing I would like to do is create MP3s on the fly from audio in. I do this all the time on my desktop. How would I do this with a laptop? I think I have seen ads (Dell?) for laptops with Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard installed, which I would assume has line-in included. Help/guidance appreciated.

There are no laptops with a Santa Cruz in them (If there were, I'd have one ;) ). The Dell's do have Line-in though...at least my Inspiron 8100 does.

I saw an ad that said Santa Cruz in laptops. I'll see if I can find it and post here. Ok, I think you're right. It was a Dell mailer and the SC option was for the Dimension series, desktops.

Then the Inspiron 8200 probably would have line-in too? How about the 4150? I presume that all the laptops have integrated audio.

If there was a laptop with a Santa Cruz I WOULD own it. I'd kill for a Santa Cruz for my Inspiron 8200. To answer your question, I've never seen a laptop that had a sound card and didn't have a line-in.
