Do laptops have a start-up beep?

I've never heard one from my laptop before. It works fine though.

I have had 5 of them - never a beep. A laptop hallmark is silence.

I dont recall a POST beep, but the ones we have around the house will beep when the battery is about to lose power...it's a BIOS setting if I recall correctly.

that is correct it is a bios setting you can turn it on and off i believe from learn about it
