Do Laptop LCDs use different panel technology?

I know that LCD panel technology used in LCD desktop monitors can vary from model to model, but what about laptop LCDs? Do all LCDs use TN panels or do some use IPS, etc? I was just wonder seeing as 15" LCDs on Laptops can display resolutions as high as 1920x1200 they must use some sort of different standards than the LCD monitors for desktops.

Most laptops use TNs although there are a couple that use IPS panels (and probably VA too). Laptop LCDs are a lot less quality than comparable desktop LCDs. They just simply make the pixels more dense but it is still TN tech. You don't see that kind of pixel density on desktop LCDs because people sit farther back and it would be harder to see.

I know for a fact that Dell uses several LCDs of vastly differing quality. I had an E1505 that I sent back because it was unstable, and got one with a terrible screen that had the antireflective sparkle, despite being glossy. It also had wavy backlight bleeding. The first one had an amazing screen that was very clear and showed much better color. I just sent the second one back and bought a used 700M, which has a GREAT screen that looks just like the first 15.4", except 12".
