Do KVM's degrade picture quality?

Anyone using a KVM with analog inputs for your monitor? I tried using one of these many years ago and the picture quality was blurry at higher resolutions. Is that a problem with the modern ones? I run both PC's at 1280 x 1024.

Mine works fine. The quality may be degraded slightly, but the alternative would be to swap cables back and forth.
I can't... won't live like that!

i found it introduces intermittence ... sometimes "it" (the picture) is there,
and sometimes it wasn't.

that was on a CRT monitor.

As long as your video signal stays within the bounds of the bandwidth limitation specified by the manufacturer you should be fine. 1600x1200 at 120 Hz is usually far too high. LCD's have the advantage of using less bandwidth as their refresh rate is normally at 60Hz.
