Do "Jr's" sometimes resent being named after their dad?

I was just thinking this, I dunno why, but do some Jr's resent being name after your dad? I mean, it's like you have someone else's identity instead of your own unique persona.

It could be rather confusing. And also skrew you financially like the other poster who got pinned from his dads mortgages.

I don't so much resent it, but it is a pain sometimes. I'm named after my dad who is named after my grandpa. I'm always getting handed the phone from my sister telling me the phone is for me and I pick it up and it's the Veteran's Association telling me I have an appointment to have fluid drained from my back or that my prescription can be picked up at the pharmacy. Add into the mix that my brother and I apparently sound identical on the phone and it gets really confusing around here sometimes.

I do wish that my great-grandparents had given my grandpa a different middle name, though. It's nice to be named after two people but I dislike the name :p

Edit: What's the most annoying about it, and it's not their fault I know, but when people call and ask for John and I ask which one, they always say "Senior" or "Junior." I tell them that Jr. is at work or whatever and then the call ends up actually being for me, the III, or vice versa.

I'm a junior and yes it was a PITA.

I spoke to my eighty something aunt on the phone recently and guess what she called me?

You've got it.

I've known a Richard jr.
Everytime I called his house I had to specify whether I wanted small Dick or big Dick.

no offense intended, just that I find that a bit humorous :)

No, but "Thirds" get sick of people saying "oh, you're a third?"

Yes my brother was named after my dad, when my bro turned 16 he changed his name, and everyone supported his decision too.

It's a pain answering the phone and asking if they want me or my dad, and sometimes they can't even decide. Sorting the mail out can get a bit tricky too...
