the sports cars (z, rx-7, 3000gt) have had style but most others haven't. been rather boring and demure. if a toyota ever had style its only because the market segment leader they worked on "paying homage" to had style.
the new Z is so ARG its ugly(they look like they are trying to do something different and end up doing what pontiac did with the aztec)
looks like car companies are trying to millenniumize their cars
take a look at the CI and CII model supras at the top
EDIT: ARRGG WTF bastards changed the site i can't find the supra ARG!!!!
Edit # 2: ok the bastards screwed up the site u have to go to aero accesories go to toyota/lexus then go to cII model supra
I personally like oriental cars, and would rather have one than a north american made car simply as they are lighter and better economically fuel wise.
There was a program on (British) tv the other day which stated exactly that and the fact that most of thier cars are based on british cars. Mini->Micra and others I can't remember. I do like japanese motors but I wouldn't peg them up their with the best in terms of style. The best....obviously German (btw this is not just my opinion it is fact )
Honda has style. The S2000 is the perfect example of that. It has the power to back up it's design. Even a Domestic would be hard pressed to fully "kill" a stock S2000 on a freeway or a curvy road. So you can't say Japanese designs lack style. They just don't make stupid designs reality. A fine example of this is the "Aztek". Now what the fvck is that? Even the Echo doesn't look that bad.
Drug abuse my ass, they should just fire GMC workers for that. I mean drug abuse is the Echo. Not that bad, but not very pretty. But the Aztek is just plain FUGLY. No matter how high you were you couldn't produce something that ugly.
Toyota Camry or the new Honda Civic, what's up with that? I mean they're great cars, but they put you to sleep just looking at them. The Toyota Avalon, looks like a Mercedes, can Toyota comes up something orignal?
I think Honda went a little conservative with the Civic from 96. Supposedly people complained that the 92-95 models looked a little "sporty". Yeah, right.
