I got my iPod from some guy online and just today the backlight on it stays on, but the iPod wont respond. So I was wondering if I can submit my iPod to the store and it'll get repaired or what not. Thanks

Edit: The problem is that the backlight stays on, and the harddrive runs, but the iPod wont show the screen and wont respond in iTunes
I think it is something that is covered by the warranty and in manufactoring...

go to the apple store. i bought mine from soneone on ebay and they replaced it, but hopefully you bought it new and not used, in which case your product likely has not been activated.

i'd say that i got it as a gift.

Well you can check if the unit itself still has a warranty here:

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/

Enter your serial number in the side... and if you've got warranty left, you'll know.

Also, with a quick glance of the warranty, I didn't see anything that said it only applies to the original owner.

did you try to reset it?

EDIT:

Even if you hit the reset keys that doesnt always work. I was told once to toggle the hold back and forth Hold on, Reset, Hold off Reset, Hold on Reset etc........ Once doesnt always do it if it's locked up.
