I've tried chocolate centipede.

The experience went like this:

" Emmmmmmmmmm chocolaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh uhhhhhhhhhhhh, spit "

They don't have a taste, you just know you have a frikin bug in your damn mouth and you don't want it in there.

Supposedly, some types of bugs are yummy. I haven't had any though.

Crayfish *look* like they could be bugs, with all those legs. Do they count?

theyre not bugs. end of point. they're crustaceans, hence, they taste like crustaceans

tribal-cooked arachnids (usually a tarantula) is good. over open flame, no spices.

insects have no flesh. they mostly have exoskeletons and sacks of crap inside them.

they use hydraulic ducts to move. cut a spider's leg off and it's all fluid. that's how they move.

yeah just like crustaceans, which is why i wonder if they taste like them. I mean are shrips, crabs, and lobsters just gaint insects underwater?

crustaceans are more "fleshy"
insects are more dry and crunchy. they have internal stuctures that are harder than their water-loving fellows

I ate grasshoppers. It wasn't bad. A nutty, crunchy texture. I was told it is high in protein and very nutritious.

imagine the burnt edges of a well-done steak from an open-flame grill. it's like that. really no taste (or if there is, there's not enough to get a taste of)

It isn't bad, we are socialized in this society with the belief that eating insects are bad and nasty, however, in many non-western societies eating insects is a establish norm... gosh I got to brush up on my sociology terms.

Id imagine that since theyre basically one evolutionary step from each other, aside from one being aquatic and one being terrestrial, they would probably have very similar taste and texture once you crack the exoskeleton open.

Id assume theyd be nearly as similar as chicken and turkey.

A clear logical inference, although unless we can figure out a way to quantify and qualitatively rate the taste of animals, we can not be sure.
