I am fairly new to this, so pls excuse if this is trivial ...

Who makes the IBM motherboards ? I am specifically researching the IBM PC300PL (model 6862) and all the documentation will tell you is that it uses the Intel 440BX chipset. Do they manufacture their own boards ? Or is it likely to be an Intel OEM board ?

I have searched foir hours on the web, but havent found an answer.
Of course I could open up the machine, except I don't have it yet (will be shipped to me next week)

Thanks for any help / pointers

IBM PC300PL uses a proprietary motherboard design.

Proprietary is one thing and the manufacturer is another thing.

I personally doubt IBM makes the motherboard.

IBM probably has them custom manufactured.

Feel free to prove me wrong if you know the real scoop.
