Do I start Manning or Favre in fantasy football?

So I made the playoffs in my yahoo FF league, largely due to the help of Peyton Manning. Sometimes I started Brett, but most of the season has been Manning all the way.

This week... I don't know though. All the talk of possibly resting Colts starters has me thinking to turn to Brett. The Colts are saying they won't approach this game any differently, but... who knows what they could do. They might start them, then in 1st quarter Manning takes a shot, the coach freaks and I'm done for the week.

The difficult part for me is having Brett as a backup. I could just start him and there'd be little to worry about. The only question then would be - what if Manning ends up playing the whole game and lights it up?

I guess that's the question - WILL Manning play all 60 minutes tonight? And if so, will he put up big numbers. Jacksonville's defense is suspect - 26th against the pass. (whereas the Panthers, who Favre plays, are 6th against the pass). Also Jacksonville has horrible pass rush apparently.

Tough decision!

Manning. Next game, I don't know, but for tonight, yes. Play him.
I don't know about "big" numbers, but if he plays the whole game he will deliver his usual consistent FF points.

I haven't read much about peyton but I thought he wasn't going to be playing much? Favre seems like a solid choice

edit: on second thought, just read that the colts are going to play, so go peyton

I don't trust Favre right now. Peyton is still playing well, they aren't going to lay down and help a division rival in their playoff push, either. Peyton, definitely.

Colts said the only people that will be rested are people with health issues. They're treating this like any other game.

I'm in the same boat, except my backup is Schaub. Right now I'm leaning towards Schaub considering how terrible the Rams are.

I'd go Schaub for sure and to all of those that thing Manning is going to play the whole game? Yeah right. :D

Actually he had the worst game of the season last week. 3 picks and a 60-something passer rating.

He had what...4TDs on top of it? I got 18 fantasy points out of him. Not the best he can do, no, but still a good week.

Yeah, see, suppose we get scared, and *don't* play Manning, then he goes and lights it up for, say 3-4 TD's and another 300 yards. Then we get stuck hoping Schaub and Favre out-do those numbers. It's kind of an agonizing decision!

Remember, Jacksonville's D is horrible - they have no pass rush. Plus Peyton has been sacked only 10 times this season. *IF* Peyton plays a full 60 minutes this game should be another clinic..

I'm from MN and love the Vikings. Favre is great and all, but if Manning is playing the full game I'd vote Manning all the way. The dude is an absolute beast. Just imagine...Peyton playing for the Vikings. That would be a sight to see!

yeah... I just don't know there. It seemed last week that the Vikings want to go back to Adrian Peterson and establish the run game again. Which, they did, and it worked well for them. But for Brett as a fantasy player, last week wasn't exactly spectacular. 192 yds, 1TD, 1INT.

That's a tough call. Favre is the safer bet b/c regardless of what they say now, I can see them sitting Manning in the 2nd half. Espeically if they start sitting "injured" O-linemen. No way are they going to put Manning behind a 2nd string lineman.

If it were me personally, I'd probably still take a shot with Manning. Even in 1/2 - 3/4 of a game, he can rack up 3 TDs.

Yea, he was bad the week before too. Call me crazy, but I generally don't trust 40 year old quarterbacks this late in the season. I think we'll see lots of AP and Chester Taylor from here till the playoffs.

thats why im going to flip a coin to decide whether to put reggie wayne in tonight or not. he's been slowing down lately and his recent foot injury gives me cause for concern; i know he can play through it but since everything is wrapped up how much time or looks he gets is what worries me. and this is a do-or-die week for me, so right now im leaning towards benching him for a more sure thing (id put miles austin in instead, my other receiver is andre johnson against the rams).

Manning should play at least the first half. I don't see him playing all game. Especially against this defense. He will most likely light it up with 3 TDs in the first half and they'll call it quits.

I was confused looking back at this thread, thinking..."hey I didn't post that stuff" when I was just looking at avatars.

Oh, and they told me not to worry because you're their all time best seller!
