Do I really need a Pentium III class cpu?

I am getting ready to add a PCI wireless adapter to my daughter's computer (eMachines 633is....Celeron 633 cpu (66mhz bus).

However I noticed on a number of models that I was researching that they require a Pentium III class cpu. I am a novice in regards to networking stuff so can someone tell me why this is?

Thanks

no you don't. they only suggest that so someone doesn't call tech support because they can't get it to run on a 486 or something like that. your wireless should run just fine.

Technically that CPU you're describing sounds like a Pentium III 'class' CPU.

I'm pretty sure its a socket 370, Might be a slot, but either way that should be enough to run the wireless card.

I have a similar Gateway eThing (Celeron 633), my Tool Shed Computer/Wireless Music Box.

Buffalo 802.11g PCI installed with 6db external Antenna. 60? away and two walls, works like s charm.

You need a X2 with dual sli and a water cooling setup. Some mad neon lights would help too. A case window is essential. If you don't have any of those, you can't do wireless. Sorry, D00d.
