Do I really need a new Power Supply?

OK, probably a stupid question... I'm planning to upgrade to an OC'ed Opteron 146 system paired with a 7800 GT card, 2GB RAM, 200GB hdd, DVD-RW, DVD-ROM and a sound card. Is my current power supply still able to handle this system?? Specs:

It looks crappy now compared with today's offerings... but this brand was actually frequently recommended back then when I got it in early 2002. Now is not even listed in Newegg! Oh well.

Definitely get a new power supply. You don't want to risk killing components like the ones you're planning on getting with a cheap power supply. You could get a new, solid 24-pin PSU for as low as $45 or so.

Enhance makes quality PSUs on par with Fortron and Channel Well (makes most Antec, etc.). Some models of Enhance are sold under the Silverstone brand. But you need more like 25 amps or more on the +12 rail. 15 Amps just won't cut it for modern systems (don't need anywhere near as much on the +5 rail any more). Fortron just came out with a new line of PSUs one of which may suit. I also recommend the Sparkle (same as Fortron really) FSP550-60PLG. It's about the best $85. +sh you can spend on a PSU, unless you can find a lightly-used Zippy to steal on eBay like I often do... I prefer single +12 rail PSUs to the split rail fad.

15A on the 12v rail is a bit weak for what you want to run. Modern systems rely heavily on the 12v rail, so I don't think that PSU is gonna cut it. If you don't want to spend a lot, I just picked up a 400w Fortron for $40 from newegg, dual 12v rails with 34A combined, which would be plenty, and it's a good price and still a quality PSU.

Unfortunately, a new psu is a very good idea. This is one of the better buys out there-

along with the more potent ax450-pn, for $10 more.

Notice the dual 12v lines on both with the increased current availability, something you'll want with a modern board and high end vidcard...

Fortron/Sparkle makes some of the better supplies available, very tough to beat at the price.

Be sure your case will accomodate the bottom intake design, which is a definite advantage if it'll fit...
