I'm starting to put together an 800mhz AMD system with either an abit kt7 or an asus a7v mb and was thinking about going with an Enlight 7237 case. However, it only comes with a 250 watt ps. Is that big enough or should I get a 300 watt? Thanks.

unfortunetly it depends on the powersupply.

There are quite a few AMD approved powersupplies that are 250w

but if you are going to use a V5, or GF you definatly want 300w

all in all, 300w is the safe road to take.

Antec makes an excelent 300w PSU for around $40

I would get a 300watt just to be on the safe side! Never hurts especially if you plan to overclock!

I have a 250W supply and I'm running 600@950 with 2 hard drives, 2 CD drives yadayadayada... Seems to work fine for me.

I would recommend trying your 250W supply first.

Compucheap offers the Enlight 7237 with more powerful PSU's. Check it out, if that's the case you want.

I bought my Enlight 7237 with a 300Watt Power Supply from these folks: OpenLinx Communications

Current cost (per PriceWatch) is $62. They'll ship the case anywhere in the Lower 48 for a flat $15. (I phoned them and made arrangements to pick it up in person for a $5 will call fee.)

From my experience SPI and Antec Power supplies are usually on the top of the market. Certain boards (e.g. high end Supermicro) have an extra AT style power connector lead that could use the extra power lead from the SPI units. For me that really stablized my system when I added the extra juice.

If you are getting a new case, the Fong Kai FK-320 is a very good case, and it comes with an AMD approved 300W PS

Broadway: I've got an Enlight 7237 case w/ 300W PS sitting at home (still in the box) from Axiontech.com for under $70.00

(I've also got a T-bird 800, Abit KT7-Raid, Asus V7700, Mushkin PC133 222 all in various stages of un-packed-ness.")

skydiver, who makes the power supply...is it amd approved? Thanks...I really need to buy a case already...I've been taking way too long to decide on one!

I just got off the phone with a csr at axion and she told me that the ps is an inspire(sp) brand and it is not amd approved. What's up with that.
