I recently bought a Leadtek MX-400 Video Card which will be here tomorrow. The concensus is that I should pay the shipping and handling fee to send it back and then get the Visiontek GTS-V instead. Since the item isn't opened, do I still pay the 15% re-stock fee. Cuz then I will have ended up paying $5 to ship it back, and $13 re-stock fee. Also, is this Visiontek card worth the extra $18 and hassle.

Jeez. I need to not be so lazy and read some faqs once in awhile. as long as I buy any thing else, the re-stock fee is waived.

Yah go for the exchange, its worth the extra bucks. NewEgg will pay for shipping if it is defective, like RMAs, not sure on a return/exchange though.

Newegg is pretty good about waiving the 15% even if you don't exchange it. They recently took back an unopened Lite-on 24X for a full refund and even paid the return shipping. In my case, my order got procesed twice. So it was thier fault, but I found the folks there extremely accomodating.

Good luck.

Yeah, but the trouble was that I had 2 boxes coming to my workplace and to ask the mail guys on the loading dock to refuse one and not the other would be a pain in the ass and they would most likely screw it up anyway.

austin, I saw you in the thread "Visiontek xtasy geforce 2 gts-v or Gainward geforce 2 mx 400 help please? ",
you're convinced by gtd2000 to get MX400 instead of gts, why you want to change your mind now?

if I'd you and newegg must charge 15% and I've to ship it by myself to exchange mx400 to gts-v, I'd keep the mx400 and forget there is gts-v.
I don't think spending about $15-20 extra to exchange mx400 to gts-v is worth since the gts-v is just $70. Just buy the gts-v next time for another computer upgrade.

Keep in mind that your hassle is also Newegg's hassle for you buying a card without doing your research first. You should pay more than shipping.

yeah, newegg doesn't have any hassle,
customers pay 15% restocking fee and ship at their own cost if they want to return something.
vendors just return the thing to manufacturer or just resell it as new item if it's unopened. they don't lose anything but earn 15% restocking fee.
