My current setup:
P4 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb /w ht
1.25gb pc3200 ddr
128 MB ATI RADEON 9800 PRO- AGP 8x
720 GB 7200rpm HDDs

Should I consider upgrading if I want to only spend under 1000? Maybe just get a dell 9150 or something.

<Standard "Should I Upgrade" Question> Why do you use your machine for and are in what areas does it appear to be "lacking" for you to consider an upgrade?</Standard "Should I Upgrade" Question>

I just got a job so some money to spend is basicly it.. and I've had this thing for over 2 years. From past experience, this is the about the time one of my system starts to die.. so I am thinking maybe it'll be better to sell this thing off and get a new system.

I am out of the loop through basicly, so it'll be a month or so of research before I decide on a new setup. I am kinda lazy now through, so might just pick up a dell and upgrade the graphic card. This is just to kinda guarge what's out there right now, and how much of an improvement it will be over my currrent setup. I mean it's been 2 years..

Looking at the 9150 through, dual core 2.8 .. I wouldn't think that would be any faster than what I currently have??

Oh yeah, I spend time just watching movies and playing games. I use fdshow to upconvert dvd playback to my 1920x1080 37inch HDTV and a 17inch dual monitor setup. I don't do video editing through.

Other than your video card, your system is pretty quick even now. You are going to have to spend some serious cash to get a speed upgrade that is going to be a night/day difference.

Suggestion, get a 6800GT AGP and format your hard drive. It will feel alot faster. (might consider a nice, big fast HD like I am)
