Do I need to update my video card drivers?

I have has my Redeon 9000 Pro II (128MB) for a while now and I have never updated the drivers. So the question is, do I really need to update? Thank you for your help and opinions:).

If it ain't broke.... :)

If everything runs with no problems (games and such), then you don't need to. But you may see an improvement...

Generally....newere drivers are better, they are there to fix issues and to boost performence wherever possible. Most of the time, you will find this is what happens...occasionally you will find that it can introduce issues....particularly with certain games etc.

set a restore point (assuming you're using XP)

update the drivers

if the new drivers rae't better, rollback to the previous drivers

I am using Windows XP but I do not know what a "restire point" is. Also, if I download new drivers, do I have to delete the old ones or is that done automatically:)?

Hey there,

Windows has a built in utuility as you have heard that is similar to Norton ghost/Drive Image and all.
Windows sets up a point in time that is designated by you.
You can learn more about it by doing a search under HELP for To back up System State data
Generally it's on by default unless turned off by you...you just have to designate what folders/files you
want windows to back-up.
