Do I need to remove my Zalman to carry my case?

I have a Zalman 7000a AlCu. Know I know that the pure copper one is not suitable for carrying your case around. But what about my Aluminum-Copper? Is it alright to carry the case with it attached. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on this board that it is; just double checking.

If it's a P4 or A64 your fine with leaving it. It's within weight specifications. On a XP it's 100 grams over the 350 limit for it, and don't know what the "real" weights you'd need to worry about I'm sure they don't specify absolute maxes.

I have a Thermalright SLK900a, which is a large copper heatsink like the Zalman. I get nervous when going to lan parties, but haven't had any problems. I do check though when I get there to make sure nothing broke or is loose before I turn on the computer.

The AlCu is lighter I think, so you should be OK.

EDIT: I also transport with the computer on it's side! More stable that way.

I've carried my CNPS-7000A Cu around no problems. I'm careful when carrying it around, but when I put it in the car I make sure to lay the computer flat so that the heatsink is sitting, not hanging.

One of my son's friends brings his box over every weekend or so and two times his 900a has come loose and we had to remount it. It has never come completely off - well once it was just hanging by the top side. Don't know how hard it bounced around. They are very heavy and you have to expect something may happen if you are not carefull. He pops the cover and checks now when he sets up and he hasn't had problems since.
