Do I need to reinstall Windows if the chipset is the same?

I'm switching from an Abit AN8 to an ASUS A8N.. both are nForce4 SLI chipset.. do I need to go through the hassle of reformatting/reinstalling Windows? Or will the machine work just fine if I simply swap out the motherboards? Would there be any other issues perhaps? (IRQ related, etc)

In theory no but, in the real world there are too many hang up with drivers and corrupted files. Keep your CD handy based on a good many builds.

Yeah, I figured there could always be something to go wrong.. as you said, drivers. I think I might just reformat to be safe.

i successfully jumped from an nforce2 to nforce4 mobo without reinstalling the OS.

you may have far less risk for problems.
