Do I need to install Promise RAID drivers in Win2k?

I have an MSI k7T Turbo-R with the built-in Promise FastTrak 100 RAID controller.

I'm not using the RAID controller. I have only one hard drive and one cd-rom drive, and both are plugged into the Via controller (one on the primary, one on the secondary). However, I get a STOP error during Win2k install: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Do I still have to install the Promise RAID Mass Storage drivers even though I'm not using the device?

The reason I ask is that I just moved my HD off the RAID controller because of the crappy drivers (you can't even exit from Sandra in Win2k using these drivers without a blue screen). I really don't want to have them installed!

Actually, my controller is onboard my MSI K7T Turbo. For some reason, that makes a difference.

Let me ask you something: can you run Sandra 2001SE and exit normally without a BSOD? If so, what version of Promise Drivers do you have installed? (I can't use the ones that Promise puts on their website because they don't recognize the onboard controller, but I can use this information to probe MSI's tech support...)

Thanks!

For that matter, has ANYONE been able to exit from SiSoft Sandra 2001SE when running on a Promise FastTrak 100 RAID controller in Win2k?
