i was cleaning my kitchen about 30 minutes ago and hit my head on the corner of one of the cupboard doors as i was coming. didnt hurt but i noticed my head was bleeding. went into the shower to clean up my head. its still bleeding a little. not sure if the head can form bloodclots or not. there is a slight stinging pain that i can probably sleep thru(if it doesnt get worse). any idea on what i should do? really dont want to go to the emergency room for this but if i have to i will.

also would something like this cause me to not grow hair in the wounded area? here are some pics

Dude...how the fuck do you manage to get through life?
Your questions indicate that you probably lived a VERY sheltered life as a child...and quite possibly should move back in with your parents...Let THEM take care of you...

Head wounds tend to bleed a lot. If it was gaping open, or bleeding a lot (as in profusely), then you would go to the ER. This looks to be a minor abrasion. Keep it clean and dry and you should be fine.

QUICK!

Someone is injured, go to ATOT and ask some computer nerds.

Almost as good as a doctor due to the googling skills, but much cheaper and not legit advice at all.

Anyway in my own opinion that looks like a tiny cut. I've had head cuts that size that just pour blood but I never did need stitches except for once out of maybe 5 head cuts that size. Some of mine wouldn't stop bleeding, like I would move my head and it would bleed more. Thats when you need to go to patient first etc.

I also hit my head & ended up in urgent care yesterday. In my case, it was a slight mishap causing a 17 pound steel post hole pounder to be slammed (with the same force you would use to drive a t-post into the ground) into the top of my head. I crumpled to the ground instantly like a rag doll. I rolled around for a moment or so, clutching my head. As I started to try to get up, I realized my brother looked really pale. He doesn't do well at the sight of blood. Then, I realized that I could only see out of my left eye, because my right lens in my glasses was completely coated with blood. And my face and arms - sort of like this: http://www.wrestling18.com/images/52/james-storm-51.jpg (bloody pic), only a little more blood, and it was real blood.

Went to Urgent-care, got a tetanus shot (plus the new booster also helps against pertusis), ice pack, washed my face, and went home. As often as I'm stepping on a nail or doing something dumb like that, I figured it's booster time. The wife (nurse with special credentials in wound care) was pissed that I didn't have staples or stitches, or at least some steri-strips holding it shut. It continued to bleed on and off for about 12 hours before it finally scabbed over completely and stopped bleeding. I'd be sitting there, watching tv, and all of a sudden it would start running down my hair and dripping down the front of my face. I'll go without showering my head for a day or two, to allow it some time to heal. Hurts like a bitch.

Head wounds can bleed quite a bit. They're almost always worse than they look. I think the worst part of the whole ordeal was walking half a mile to the road, because I couldn't take my hands off my head to hold on to the 4-wheeler. And, I used to have a white pair of gloves. Now, I have a red pair of gloves.

I visit another forum for lawn care business owners. I'm amazed (because I'm Canadian) at the amount of people looking for diagnosis in a forum. I've seen people with blown out shoulders and backs, broken fingers even schizos looking for free advice all claiming the financial thing, no insurance or whatever. I'm really glad we don't have to worry about that here.

One time I was repelling down a HOSPITAL, cleaning windows on the way down. I repel pretty fast down the genie line and my safety clamp snagged on the safety rope, came up and clipped my eyebrow. I was gushing blood, covered half my face and going onto my t-shirt.

One of the guys on the roof got scared and was yelling to go to emergency.

So I finish my drop and walk around front to the emergency room, waited about ten minutes. By the time the nurses saw me I guess it had stopped bleeding and they treated ME like a big baby, LOL.

They gave me a damn tetanus shot that hurt worse then the injury. I went away feeling like, "I'm in Mexico" but it was FREE.

Obama care is BIZARRE. Forcing people to buy health insurance is NOT universal health care. Universal health care is cutting out the middleman. Get rid of insurance companys that alone cuts the cost in half.

If you have time to make a post on the internet asking about if I need to goto the ER, chances are probably that you don't need to goto one.

chances also are that he could be dead by morning. Someone needs to come by his house in the morning and make sure hes ok or at least call his mom...and ask her for pictures?

Urgent Care for that nick? lol
Yes, please go and drive up our healthcare costs even more.

I am becoming one of those old men who never go see a doctor.

You're fine.
But stop fapping in the kitchen. That's just gross.
