Do I need to double box?

I still have the original box for it. The dimensions of the box are 24L x 21W x 12H. It's fairly large box and I dont want to find a even bigger box to fit that box in. I still have the styrofoam (sp?) inserts but I'm going to fill all gaps with left over peanuts I have. Do I still need to double box the thing?
