Is this troll bait?
i thought matchmaking has to go through battle.net, but it switches over to lan if possible once the game starts? If you wanna play Starcraft 2 on two computers, you will need to buy two copies. And you cant LAN anyway. You are REQUIRED to sign up for a battle.net account for each copy of the game installed. And every time you play, you have to log in to battle.net.
And when you play with a friend, it will always be online, over your ISP. Never any other way. Doesnt matter if you two are networked or not.

One thing to keep in mind is you may have issues connecting to Bnet with 2 computers running on the same network. I haven't tried it personally, but I know some games/services have issues with that sort of thing.
