Everytime, i ask question regarding power supply, i get told that 600 watt is the only way tog go.

do i really need that much power?
rig:
Gigabyte DS-3
E6400 2.13
eVGA 7900GS KO 256MB
1x250GB 7200.10 Seagate Barracuda
1x Dual Layer DVD Burner
2GB 800MHz Gold Edition OCZ RAM
Case with 2-3 LED fans

I have no plans of ever going raid
i have no plans of adding more than 1 optical drive
no plans to adding another video card...

so how much of power would be efficient for that?
and what is a good PSU in $90 CND range (about $82 USD)

Try a Sesonic S12 430 or 500 both should work fine for your system. Just do a search for seasonic on NCIX.com and you'll get all of em, the S12 500 is about 120 CAD delivered and the 430 is around 97

400 is the bare min I'd use If you do go that low just make sure it has enough juice on the 12V rail. this is not a place to cheap out Powersupply is one of the more important pieces of your rig.

Remember, Canada's power is of much better quality than the US's so you can get by with a cheaper power supply. There is no reason to buy some cheap POS, but a decent 400W is plenty for you.
