Steam has their 'link' and controller on sale for $50. The link might be handy sometime, play on the big screen. The controller looks fine though I have a still unopened Xbox controller or PC.

The 34" ultrawide looks great and gets rave reviews, but a 27" 1080; is really 'just fine, and those 34" are now evolving so much so fast with slight improvements - thought the Dell 3415W is on sale for $600.

Hm. Guess I'll hold off, but somewhat tempting gizmos.

I will say this much:

If you are purchasing a new gaming monitor today, make sure it does at least 100 hz. I got an ASUS ROG and thats been the most impressive upgrade of my life. Much more benefit than any video card or CPU ever.

+1 on the >60hz monitor. PCMR is pushing the envelope here, while consoles are *retreating* to a 30fps 'standard'. 120fps+ is a whole different ballgame.

As a steam link owner, it's super duper awesome for getting what's on your PC to whatever TV you want. It's kept me from having to move my monolithic computer case from room to room to watch stuff via netflix or whatever, or game in the living room if I want to. It behaves as advertised (just expect to run a network cable, the wifi experience is garbage).
