Do I need prozac or something? I'm never happy any more.

I was excited this afternoon cuz the Eagles won- that's it.

I can't even remember the last time I was truly happy. It was probably about 10 days ago- that doesn't say much.

It's because of girl problems, boredom, stress, my sister being sick, and I don't know what else.

What should I do?

I can't talk to my parents- they won't take me seriously. They think I'm soooo happy...if I talk to them they'll think that they are bad parents- which they aren't at all! They are great parents and my being sad (I hate the word "depressed.") is NOT their fault. They have enough on their minds cuz of my sister.

Any recommendations?

I nearly forgot (damn, i wish I could), I have very few true friends- i think that accounts for me being here all the time.

hey there zippy.
i sort of relate.
i'm sort of a paradox. anti-geek/mondo-geek

whenever i'm w/ people or somewhere i'm a definate social butterfly...unless i feel uncomfortable w/ the way i feel about myself (happens some days).

but once i get home and sit at my computer i'm a mondo-geek instantaneously! very wierd stuff. my close friends, family, brother (best friend in the whole world) don't understand why i won't go out or do anything when i'm at my computer. once i'm here...i zone out...it's really wierd shit. I don't understand it and neither do they.

here's what i plan to do: dump all my computer games this year. no more playing for me starting january 5th. focus on what i want to do- attend us naval academy.

loneliness i don't mind but i know others do. my family and friends feel loneliness is a corruptive spirit...i do get agitated easily after spending hours at my computer. hmm...dunno...

[Sorry bud...had to vent as well]

if you think it's necessary, go to a shrink, but for most people having low points just happens :) it'll pass, but if it doesn't then do seek help. especially if heavy drug use/self inflicted injury or suicidal thoughts/attempts come into play. there is something called SAD, Seasonal somethingorother Disorder, which is basically the person gets really funked out during the winter, like Red said, because of the holidays, lack of sun etc. my suggestion is do a search on Ask Jeeves for 'depression' or 'sad' and see what comes up. good luck :)

You really should consider talking to your parents. If you can't talk to them then who can you talk to. If you are worried that they might feel they are bad parents, you should worry more about how bad they'd feel with you being afraid to go to them in a time of need. Tell them they're great parents, that will make them feel good. It will make them feel great that you feel comfortable enough to go to them when you need help too. That's what families are for, sometimes people forget that.

The best thing to do would be to talk to your parents. Let them know how you feel. If you talk to them truthfully they will know it isn't because they are bad parents. If you feel it is bad enough, ask them if you see a shrink. They can be very helpful ifyou find a good one.

I know how bad it sucks to have few friends and girl problems. I am sitting at home on New Year's Eve because my few good friends already had plans, and were unable to bring me along.
