I'm going to upgrade to an E7205 board eventually. I currently have a P4PE board and I'm upgrading the RAM and putting my old pc2100 into an older system. Since I plan to replace the P4PE with an E7205 sometime well down the line, I'm wondering which ram the E7205 needs. I know it supports DDR266, so do I need to have DDR266 RAM? Since it's dual ddr do I need pc3500? This whole naming convention is a bit confusing. Dual DDR? Does the board even support DDR333?

All I'm really looking for is an answer as to what the best RAM is for the E7205.

Thanks in advance if you can help me clear this up.

I was wondering the same thing! I have seen some using 266 and others using 400. Do you need to overclock in order to use DDR400 over 266? Is it just a matter of different settings for the ram?

If your going to run the cpu at stock speed then pc2100 is fine. If your going to try overclocking by upping the fsb. Then get ddr333(pc2700) or 400(pc3200). The E7205 boards have a 1:1 ratio so if your run your fsb at 150mhz the memory would be at 300mhz 150mhz x2 for ddr. The springdale boards will have ddr 400 support. You may want to get ddr400 memory in case you upgrade later. You can still use it at ddr266 speeds. Plus you'll be able to use faster timings at the ddr266 speed with the ddr400 memory.

Yeah, I might actually wait awhile longer so I'll probably go with the 400MHz RAM. $200+ is just too much money to spend on a mainboard for me.
