Since I am having troubles with my yamaha 4416 burner, I called yamaha tech support to ask them about it. When I try to run their upgrade utility to get upgraded firmware, it gives me an ASPI error. The yamaha guy told me I should install ASPI layers. He gave me a website with info on how to do it. BUt he did say that it could possibly affect some other things on my pc.
Any info on this? Do I need this aspi stuff to burn discs or waht?

As in your previous thread, Adaptec told me the same thing and that didn't solve anything. Hope you have more luck then I did....

I had the toughest time getting my aging Smart and Friendly 8x20 SCSI burner to work right w/o locking up in Win2k. Put NT4 Workstation back on and it's been humming along fine now.

thanks tweakin- I guess I'm gonna start looking for another scsi card. I have no plans of going with adaptec. I take it form your other post you went out and purchased a Tekram DC-3150 like the one you borrowed from your friend.
What are some of the other manufacturers out there that make scsi pci cards?
