Do I need an 8 pin (P8) power connector?

My motherboard (P55A-UD4) has an 8 pin connection for the 12V, but my PSU only has a 4 pin (P4) one.

I'm using only the 4 pin one now and it works ok.

Would something like this be good to have:

Could adding this be problematic?

The PSU is a 550w LC Power.

If you're sure the CPU doesn't consume more than 150W or so you're good with the 4-pin connector. I'd go 8-pin for serious overclocking with a 95W+ processor however.

The CPU is an i5 750. I do plan to OC it*, but not much more than 4Ghz, because I'd like to keep the fans from spinning too much.

(*in fact I already did, to 3.8Ghz at 1.225 V - stock cooler so can't go higher right now)

Can anything go wrong if I used one of those adapters, tho? Are they just like the "native" 8 pin connectors on PSUs, in terms of power?

I don't know what a full 4 pin molex should provide, compared to a P4 connector. And what if it's half molex (2 pin), like in the second picture, combined with a p4?
