do i need all 3 cd's for installation of rh9?

For packages, of course... You'll probably need all three. Somehow, I always end up needing just 1 or 2 packages from Disc 3 no matter what options I choose.

The three cd's contain the os, and all the packages. The source code(if all is there, I cant say) is there as well. But whehter or not you need all three will depend upon the package selection during the installation process.

No - the source code is on disks #4-6. The first 3 are solid packages.

you could use the first disc to make a very small install and then use up2date to install the rest.
