I have a 300watt power supply.

i had a athlon 950 tb
geforce2mx
768 ram ect...
kt7a 133 mobo
mobo, 2 hds, cd rom

that all worked fine

i added on the same power supply
1100 tb
everything else the same
and geforce 4 4400 128 ram

my computer isn't starting up. actually it did one time and gave me a beep so i know it all works.

It starts but like nothing is starting up. To me it seems like i lack the necessary power for it to start up.

my guess is i don't have enough power in the power supply. And that i should get a 350 to 400 watt one for it to work correctly and post.

what do y'all think

What is the Make/Model of your PSU?

I have a 300W Enhance (220W on +3.3 & +5) running a XP1600(@1630Mhz), GF4Ti4200, 60GB/7200rpm HDD. It is less important that you have a PSU rated higher, than having one that is high quality.

The problem could also be that your video card is not seated properly. Try removing and inserting it a few times to make sure it is going in all of the way.

The 300W should be able to handle it without a problem..... if it's a good PS. A generic POS power supply may crap out on you. Hell, I've seen a 300W PS handle a much bigger work load then what you have.

It sounds like it's not a matter of 300W being too little power, but rather a matter of a poorly made PS crapping out on you.

mines a generic power supply, and its been wokring fine for me till now.. its a really cheap powersupply since the case and psu 2 years ago was about 35 =p.

when i added the 2 new parts it just not posting anymore. Turns on everything turns on but the cpu light stays red now..

i've had similar problems before but i just turn it off and push the power button again and bingo it works. usually just now its not doing so..

I would get a new PS before that POS spikes and takes your MOBO and CPU with it.
