Do I need a special power supply to run an Athlon XP??

Do I need a special power supply as in the case of the P4??? I've been looking on the motherboard manufacturers websites and can't find anything regarding that.

Thanks in advance,

Ranalli

No but get a good quality one like an antec or enermax. At least 300w preferably more just to be safe. Usually all new powersupplies are P4 approved and will work with the AthlonXP. It's just they have that 12v square plug for P4 motherboards and a few newer athlon boards.

I would go with the biggest quality PS you can afford. If you are planning on having lots of case fans, hdd's, ect.

It doesn't need a special type. You probably don't need a super-duper power supply either, but the first thing you might try if you have problems is a high quality power supply.
