Do I need a second AMD R9 290X

Hi,

I have a 30 inch 2560x1600 monitor. I have two AMD R9 290X. I ran 3DMark and I got back 5866 in crossfire and 5024 with a single card. Is it worth while to keep the second card since the improvement wasn't that great or is 3DMark not real world scores. Thanks.

David

As the above member said you need to sort your rig out and ensure the second card is actually working.
Or if you don't know how to enable crossfire then send the second card back.

You don't "need" a second R9 290X for a single monitor at 2560 x 1600. Please tell us your system specs (motherboard, cpu, ram, operating system) to help with why you received the above results. Which 3D mark?

As a dual 290 user myself, you don't need two cards necessarily. It sure is nice to have it when you need it though, especially at WHQD resolution. That, and you won't have to upgrade right away when the new cards come out.

That 3dmark score is absolutely incorrect, as others have mentioned.

Yep! My loop consists of:

Two EK full cover blocks + plates
Raystorm
AX360 push/pull
AX240 push/pull
D5 vario
XSPC bay res

I think you should run heaven or valley and then compare to other scores in their respective benchmark threads.
