I'm thinking of going to New Orlean in about a month. I've never travel anywhere else. So Im kind confuse. Do I need a passport to go from CA to New Orlean? I have a driver license, school ID, and my citzenship certificate. Also, where can I find the cheapest airplane tix? Thx

No...but if you're not a US Citizen and you get pulled over/arrested, you might need it.

I'd look on cheaptickets, orbitz, expedia, and all those other travel sites you see online for cheap airline tickets.

Uhm, you only need a passport to travel between country borders. The states are all part of the United States of America, which is a country. To go between states is like driving between towns. It is very benign.

only time I've ever had to use my passport when travelling within the United States is before I got my driver's license. especially post-9/11, lots of places ara big on the whole government-issued photo ID thing.

I thought you HAVE to present your passport whenever you are boarding a plane? no?
Nope, I've flown a few times (within the country) and have never physically seen a passport, let alone flashed one before I got on the plane.

Only if the plane is crossing country borders. If you are traveling domestically, you only need to show photo ID if over 18 (school ID, drivers license, etc... are acceptable).

Yeah, I have never once seen a passport in person in my life. When I went to Canada with camp, all we needed were birth certificates.
