Do I need a NF4 chipset for PCI-E?

Hi gang,

I'm shopping for a motherboard and I want it to have a PCI-e slot for a 6600GT card. I don't need SLI right now - I can always upgrade the MB later for that. But I do want PCI-e now, instead of an AGP card, so at least I can be half way to SLI as far as the GPU is concerned.

Is the NF4 the only chipset that supports PCI-e? I know a lot of you are waiting for the SLI boards, but what boards is everyone else waiting for who doesn't want SLI right now?

Thanks!
Aaron

VIA, and ATi are working on PCI-E solutions for the AMD64 platform. I think you might be able to preorder some of the ATI chipsets, but I have not seen anything about the VIA PCI-E boads out side of previews.

Yes, I'm sure you could order some ATI chipsets. Yes sir REE. But they wouldn't do you much good without a motherboard manufacturing facility.
