Do I need a new video card or a new PC for home theater?

My system is inadequate to drive a new 1080p TV with full-screen video (eg YouTube at high resolution). Trying to decide whether I need to upgrade my system or just the video card...

I have a Dell from 2006 or 2007 with an Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86 GHz. At some point I upgraded the RAM to 3GB, and the video card to a GeForce 7300 LE (don't laugh).

Would upgrading the video card be sufficient? Otherwise will be getting a new system...

Thanks in advance for any input!

what hm said. if you throw in even a cheap newer gfx card, you'll get hardware acceleration and your pc will be up to snuff for 1080p playback.

Thanks guys.

The reason I'm afraid that the video card won't be sufficient is that I'm not just playing video via a codec but streaming video via a browser (from Youtube or Netflix for ex).

Still sure just the video card upgrade will do it?

Thanks again!
