I'm upgrading from an iPhone 4 to a Nexus 5. I'm not sure if I need a new SIM card or not.

On my iPhone 4, I got 3G. On the Nexus, I'm getting "H". Not sure what that means. I know H+ is the best option available.

I live in a big city, so I assume I should have access to the best network there is. Do I need a new SIM card or is H+ only available in certain areas of town?

Who's your carrier?

Do they offer 4G in your area?

Are you asking if you need a different sim card to receive 4G, and that your sim card physically fits in the N5?

AT&T

Yeah. The sim card fits and works. Not sure I'm getting 4g though.

You might need a new SIM, because you should be getting "LTE".

I am getting a new SIM as well. I have been using AT&T's "4G" SIM on my Nexus 4 and it's different from the SIMs in my parents' S4's. I learned it when I popped in my SIM in one of my parents' S4 it did not get LTE.

Just pop into an AT&T store, they should give you a free or inexpensive sim card, there are some differences in sim cards.

Gotcha. I'll pop by an AT&T store sometime. Last time I went, I had to wait about 30 minutes to talk with somebody and the store was practically empty. Not looking forward to it :(

This has been a fun experience.

I went to an AT&T store. They told me that I did not need a new SIM card. They also told me that I could not activate the phone in the store and that I would have to call customer service.

Customer service told me that I needed a new SIM card and that they cannot activate the phone without a new SIM card.

I went back to AT&T. This time I talked with another person who was really helpful. In about 5 minutes she got me a new SIM and activated my phone.

Took about 2 hours but now I have LTE which is amazing.

Don't go crazy on speedtesting on LTE. You will quickly eat up your data allotment. ^^

Yeah. My "unlimited" plan only gives me 5 GB.

Its nice that webpages load faster. Browsing the web on 3G was horribly slow.

Hehe, I did this last year when Tmobile went LTE in NYC. I had just gotten my S4 and was running speedtest.net all the time. Went right through my unlimited 5Gb high speed in 3 days or so.
